Commision Terms of Service
These are the terms of buying a commission from me. I hold myself to a high level of professionalism when it comes to working on commissions. I will always complete my commission to the best of my ability and will work with you to represent your characters and ideas as well as I can humanly possible. I will respect your wishes and try to make your experience with me a pleasant one.
In return, I do expect a certain degree of professionalism from my clients. I ask that you have some idea of what you'd like before contacting me... and in the case of character sheets, have a basic outline of your character's stats (Look at previous examples of my character sheets to see what I need). Please allow me a certain level of artistic freedom and do not ask my to draw in a style other then my own. If you'd like your character drawn in an anime style or like Dark Natasha/Goldenwolf/whomever, please contact an artist who draws in that style.
If there's any questions or concerns, please bring them up to me BEFORE the item has been paid for.
As the artist, I treat my art as a business. From my end, I promise professional and friendly service with fast turnaround time. I promise that I will also complete each commission to the best of my abilities!
It is VERY important that you communicate in clear English when discussing your commission with me. I won't be a complete grammar Nazi, but good communication is necessary for me to create art specific to what you are asking for. Please do not riddle messages to me in babyspeak, leetspeek, lolspeak, etc. The only language I am comfortable with speaking fluently is English. If English is not your first language, please try to be as clear as possible, or get a bilingual friend to translate. Inability to communicate clearly with me can be a cause for me to turn down your commission, so please be clear when talking to me.
Also, keep in mind that I work best when given some amount of creative
freedom. I love it when clients give me specific directions on poses and
things of the like, but if you feel the need to dictate a picture down to the
fingernails or exact placement of strands of hair, then I tend to get stressed
out and the resulting picture may not be as nice as I'd like it to be.
Adult Art
While I do draw sensual or "sexy" characters, I do not draw outright
porn/yiff. Please see the image content section for more information on the
specifics on what I will and will not draw.
- Do not try to "bribe" me to draw adult images for you.
- I will not sell drawings or commissions that contain nudity to anyone under
the age of 18. It's illegal.
- I'll be frank. I don't want to know (or care about) your sexual
fetishes. Please refrain from talking to me about them. While you may be very
passionate about your fetishes, please be aware that not everyone enjoys them as
much as you do.
- I have a right to refuse a commission if it sounds like a weird sexual fetish
to me.
Payment
- Paypal is recommended and preferred!
- Please do not send payment as gifts. It is against paypal's policies and if
something goes wrong then Paypal won't even listen to your claims because you
said that payment was a "gift".
- Please specify your name and what the payment is for when paying. It just
makes my life easier. ![]()
- I will accept personal checks and money orders from the US ONLY! I
will not do any work on your commission until the check has cleared (About a
week).
- I will NOT accept Western Union checks. Period. Too much potential for
scams.
- Please do not haggle my prices or ask for "discounts" on multiple
commissions.
- Do not try to flirt or "suck-up" to me to try and convince me to give your
free or discounted art. My art is my business. It would be the same thing as
flirting with your auto mechanic to fully repair your car for free. Not going
to happen.
- Do not ask me to give you a discount because your mother died or some other
awful thing happened to you. It's not my fault or problem that something sad
happened to you.
- I will not do business with anyone under the age of 18 without the permission
of your parents.
- If payment arrangements are not made within a week of the price quote, you
will lose your place on my queue.
- Payment is required up front and in full before pencil touches paper.
Reference Pictures
- While I don't require reference pictures, I highly recommend them. If you
don't have reference pictures, keep in mind that your picture is more up to my
interpretation of what you've written.
- Please keep references tasteful. "Safe for Work" references are preferred
but I will take references with tasteful nudity. I will not work from reference
pictures with pornographic adult content.
- If you have any photographs of similar clothing or backgrounds to what you
want, feel free to send them.
- I have no problem working from Second Life screen shots.
- If you're asking me to work without reference pictures, please provide a
detailed description. Something a little meatier then "I want a white dragon
with blue eyes".
- On the other end of the spectrum, please don't provide me with a wall of text
with your character's full biography. Just the important details, please. I
don't need a novel.
- If you'd like me to design a character for you, I can do so... but it will be
an extra cost added onto the price of the commission. The price will depend on
the specific type of commission, but it will be about 25%-30% of the commission
base price.
- Do not ask me to directly copy a reference picture, my own characters, or
other people's personal characters.
- Please have references ready when you contact me!
The Commission Process
- Contact me with the specifics of what you'd like as well as a
description/reference pictures of your character.
- I will get back with you with a price quote and payment instructions.
- Send payment. Once that is squared away, I will begin working.
- I will send you a rough sketch for your approval. I will take the sketch
back once for a total redo or twice for minor revisions free of charge. Any
further revisions will cost extra. It is VERY important that you tell me any
and all changes you want made at this point because after you've approved the
rough stage, I cannot make any changes to the line art!
- On special request, I can send you the colors at the "flat" stage.
- Once you've approved the sketches, I will begin finalizing the
picture. After it is colored, I will send you your picture. Unless there's any
minor changes you want made to the colors, it will be uploaded to my galleries.
- Your picture will be uploaded to my galleries and you will be sent an
unwatermarked version.
You may upload the watermarked version of your commission to your FurAffinity
gallery as long as you give me credit. Proper credit is "Ulario" on DeviantArt
or UlarioGryphon on Furaffinity.
Artwork intended to be used for commercial purposes or redistribution must have
the details of its use explained to me in full! I have the right to refuse
commissions under these circumstances and I have the right to know all purposes
that my art is being used for. An agreement must be clearly stated and approved
by both parties regarding the use of the artwork.
Clients may not redistribute unfinished work or works in progress. Also,
clients may not take an unfinished sketch or line art and ask another artist to
alter it or color it without my permission.
Please note that all work in progress pictures are confidential between the
artist and the client and are not to be posted publicly unless permission is
asked for and given!
Acting rude, name calling, or becoming too difficult for me to deal with can
result with me cancelling your commission and refunding your money minus the
cost of any work done on the commission so far.
The Artist's Rights
- I have the right to refuse a commission for any reason.
- My work time is not set in stone. Circumstances may come up that keep me
from working. I do try to finish commissions within a week after they are paid
for.
- If something comes up and you need to cancel the commission, I have the right
to be paid for any work completed on the commission. For example, if I have
completed with line art, then I will refund you all but the amount for a line
art commission. Dissatisfaction with the art is not the artist's fault! It is
the client's responsibility to communicate the desired aesthetics of the piece
and let me know if there are any desired changes before completion!
- Commissions are usually done on a first come, first serve basis. If I have a
few commissions ahead of yours, expect that theirs will be completed before
yours.
- I have the right to use any commissioned pieces in my Astral Chimera art
books, professional portfolios, or exhibitions.
- Any full colored commissioned pictures (Excluding avatars, badges, and
character sheets) can be made into prints and sold at conventions. I will
always give proper credit to you as the creator of the character on the back of
the print. If you absolutely do not want me to sell prints of your
commission then it will be a $50 fee for your commission to not be
reprinted. Please note that the $50 fee ONLY ensures that I will not reprint
your commission and resell them too other people at conventions or online. This
does not include full royalties to the picture!
If any issue is not addressed here, please
ask me.
