Species Name: Drakken're (Theran
Spirit Dragon)
Physical Description: Spirit Dragon bodies are long and slender, almost serpentlike. Their legs are long and skinny and their tails are about 1.5 to two times their body length, tapering down to a tuft of long hair. Their hands and arms are human-like. Their skin has the texture of a polished leather. The skin color of a spirit dragon can be almost anything, though metallic colors like gold, silver, and copper are the most common. Their faces are typically more soft-shaped then those of a terra dragon. Many of them have facial features that resemble equines. All of them have a set of long ears and at least one pair of horns (some have more then one set of horns but it is extremely rare). Both males and females have manes of long hair on the top of their heads. Some of them have manes that continue down the ridge of their spine to the base of the tail - or even to the end of the tail. Some males have catfish-like whiskers or hair on their chin and cheeks. They are wingless but fly with telekenesis. Glands behind either side of the top teeth produce their breath weapon. Fire is the most common breath weapon but some produce lightning, acid, scalding vapors, or frost instead. Information about bipedal spirit dragons under Therans.
Society/Ecology: Spirit dragons are seen as being more peaceful and wise then the terra dragons. They develop close ties with their families and if you befriend one, you will have a loyal friend for life. Their society is built on honor, and will typically live by a code of personal morals. They will typically mate for life, though if their mate dies they may choose another. Mating rituals usually involve elaborate dances as well as the ritual of gift giving. After an egg is laid it takes about 15 months to hatch. Females usually have the job of caring for the egg, but males help. Drakken're eggs are soft and leathery like snake eggs so they are extremely vunerable and are under constant watch by the parents. After the egg has hatched, dragonlets develop at a slightly slower pace then humans with exception of walking (which they can do almost immediately after birth). They can talk at 2 years and fly at 5. Spirit Dragon Names: Spirit dragon first names are based on several words in Archaic Theran (a variant in the ancient Theran language) which have been melded together. Therefore they are typically long and complex. Spirit dragons also have a surname based on a single word in Archaic Theran. Example of typical drakken're first names: Ceraleataseng, Tanshyonrodu, Vergeldemose, Nythervesas Examples of typical drakken're surnames: Mirarahe, Esako, Okenima, Kota
